Schedule


Vipassana meditation courses are held at the Arun Vanaram Center on an ongoing basis.
You may join the following courses:

A 26-day beginner course (including arrival and departure days).

A 13-day retreat (including arrival and departure days) is available for those who have already taken a beginner course in this technique.

Introductory course As an introduction to Vipassana, we recommend practicing for at least 6 days.

The Eight Precepts

Meditators will undertake the Eight Precepts during their stay. The Precepts are the foundation of our Center and meditation practice, ensuring a safe and suitable home for guests to experience the benefits of insight meditation.

  • To refrain from intentionally taking the life of any living being
  • To refrain from taking anything that is not given
  • To refrain from any kind of sexual or romantic activity
  • To refrain from false and harsh speech, gossiping, or slanderous speech
  • To refrain from consuming any alcohol and any intoxicating or mind-altering drugs. This includes cannabis in any form.
  • To refrain from eating after 12 noon
  • To refrain from dancing, singing, music, TV and wearing cosmetics Inc. nail varnish/gel nails, perfumes and jewelry
  • To refrain from the use of luxurious beds and seats

4 am. Wake up
6 am. Breakfast
11 am. Lunch
10 pm. Sleep 

On the day you arrive you will receive an introduction to Vipassana, a demonstration of the technique.

Meditation practice continues throughout the day. Every day there is an individual meeting with the teacher.


Accommodation


Meditators are accommodated individually in a room or a house with toilet and shower.
The center is open all year round, the houses have heating and hot water.
We provide meditation cushions and mats.

Dress code

By tradition, meditators wear white clothing. Clothing should be loose and comfortable and cover the chest, arms and legs.

Food

The kitchen serves vegetarian meals twice a day. Drinking water from our own artesian well is available at any time. You may bring your own food and use the refrigerator. Please note that there are no shops near the Center, so please bring everything you need with you.

How much does it cost?


Our center was built and operates on donations only.
In accordance with the Buddhist tradition of Dana (generosity), meditation training is available to everyone, regardless of their financial situation.
